A Stalwart of the DSLR market for decades, Nikon has been a popular choice among wedding photographers and videographers alike. Nikon cameras feel like they’ve been designed by an inherently artistic organisation – as digital as they are, they seem as though they have an almost analogue quality. Nikon’s latest range of mirrorless cameras offers a perfect spectrum of options across the price-range, plus they're rather light in comparison to their DSLR counterparts. As well as helping you remain a little more hidden from guests, this reduced weight is something you’ll find more and more important the further you get into the wedding day.

All the cameras featured in this section are as fabulous for stills as they are for video, giving you real flexibility in the way you’re working – even if you do have a separate dedicated stills camera in tow!

Option 1 - Nikon Z 6 II, Nikon Z 24-70mm f/4 Lens and Rode Videomic Pro+
Weekend from £119 - hire now!

Whilst it’s no longer the newest of the Nikon mirrorless family, the Z 6 is still a fantastic choice for wedding videography, whilst also excelling in the stills department. The headline difference is that the newer Z 6 can shoot at 4K 60 frames per second, while this original model tops out at 4K 30 frames. This difference will matter to you or it won’t, but it’s worth noting that many videographers prefer the lower framerate for a more cinematic quality, with the added benefit of a smaller file size.

Elsewhere you’re still getting a fabulous 24-megapixel sensor and Nikon’s excellent autofocus system, though no eye tracking. The body weighs in at under 600 grams - a real winner at a wedding, where you’ll likely get your best footage when you’re as hidden as possible. This package comes with the Z 24-70mm F4 lens, which gives you a good range of wide angle with a little bit of reach, as well as a 64GB XQD card and reader, 2 batteries and a charger.

Nikon’s flagship mirrorless model, that Z 7 II builds on the fantastic Z 7 in a variety of ways that benefit wedding videography. Firstly, the Z 7 II can shoot in 4K 60 frames per second, rather than just 30 frames, allowing for a wealth of creative options to be explored. Elsewhere, it features dual memory card slots, so you won’t be worrying about switching out cards, and face and eye tracking is available for video rather than just stills. Finally, you can now operate the camera with constant power, and even charge the battery at the same time as shooting.
