The Canon EU-V2 Expansion Unit 2 mounts onto the C500 Mark II and provides a V-mount battery mount for power as well as ports that expand the capabilities of the camera. The expansion unit adds five ports: Genlock/Sync Out, Remote B (RS-422), Ethernet, DC Out (24V, 2A), and a lens control port. This unit also adds two 3-pin XLR connectors for audio input and the V-mount battery plate incorporates a D-Tap output for powering accessories.
The Genlock/Sync Out port accepts a genlock signal that slaves your camera to the same time base as the other equipment receiving the genlock signal. The Remote B port allows you to control your camera using RS-422 protocol, while the Ethernet port allows you to connect your camera to a LAN for control and live streaming applications. The DC out port provides power for accessories, while the lens control port allows you to interface with select lenses.
The expansion unit can power its ports as well as your camera via the built-in V-mount. However, you cannot power the adapter from the camera, as the XLR connectors, DC power port, and lens port can only be supplied power from a V-mount battery and not from the camera body.
