With the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM, a maximum f/1.4 aperture model joins the Art Line of lenses. Developed using experience of the 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art and its 50mm f/1.4 companion, this lens benefits from such expertise and as a result has excellent imaging performance. Sagittal coma flare, chromatic aberration, distortion and vignetting have all been minimised to a barely perceptible level to give a best-in-class optical performance. Equally at home photographing a starry night, landscape or a dimly illuminated interior, this lens consistently produces results to be admired with excellent definition and consistency of brightness right into the corners of the frame.
Best in Class optical performance
Sagittal coma flare has been reduced by careful positioning of aspheric lens elements and adjustment of the angle of incidence of the light source. The result is better rendition (much less streaking) of point sources as you move away from the centre of the frame, making this lens ideal for photographing illuminations and astrophotography.
Chromatic aberration is reduced by using both FLD and SLD low dispersion glass optics so that axial chromatic aberration is drastically reduced. The high anomalous dispersion of the FLD glass ensures that residual chromatic aberration (secondary spectrum) is also corrected.
Quality Materials
This lens uses intelligent construction choices for robustness and reliability. For example, the lens hood incorporates rubber in the area that connects to the lens and the focus switches have been redesigned. The lens also uses TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) which has similar thermal expansion characteristics to aluminium but has better elasticity and resistance to deformity compared with commonly used polycarbonate and glass composites which are often used in lens barrel construction in other lenses. This Art lens also has a rounded diaphragm for attractive bokeh and a tough brass made bayonet mount for years of trouble free service.

If extremely precise autofocus is required, the Sigma calibration dock will fine-tune the relationship between the specific camera and the specific Sigma lens you are using. For ultra precision, you may also want to hire the Datacolor SpyderLENSCAL calibration chart.
