Wednesday 17th July 2024: Canon lifts the lid on its exciting new cameras.

It's been a few weeks now since news emerged that the Canon EOS R1 was arriving this year, with Canon confirming the existence of the camera and setting out a roadmap for its details and release. At a livestreamed event today, we finally got official details and specs, but perhaps just as exciting (because it was less expected) was the announcement of the EOS R5 II.

Canon EOS R5 Mark II - A master of all trades.

Canon says "From wildlife, reportage and portrait photography to filmmaking, interviewing and documentaries - the EOS R5 Mark II masters it all and lets you conquer your creative ambitions."

Canon has made some serious technical headway since the release of the original R5 back in 2020, making the EOS R5 Mark II a huge upgrade. With a 45 megapixel now back-illuminated and stacked, the R5 Mark II is capable of incredible whatever your discipline, offering speeds of up to 30fps. For video, the Mark II can shoot 8K 60p RAW internal and brings in a wealth of useful tools like false colour, waveform and Clog2.

This camera also inherits the sublime AF system present in the R3 and R1, meaning focus has never been faster or more reliable. Equally impressive, eye control AF sees an upgrade and is the most useful it has ever been.

To be first in line to try the Canon EOS R5 Mark II, head straight over to our product page and sign up to our waiting list. We'll notify you as soon as it arrives!

Canon EOS R1 - Canon's new flagship camera

EOS R1

We knew it was coming and here it is. Canon's brand new flagship channeling the spirit of the Canon EOS-1, the details are in on the Canon EOS R1 and it does not disappoint.

The Canon EOS R1 is all about speed and high sensitivity, with the clear message of 'be first' to the shot. Utilising a brand new cross-type autofocus, the 24.2 megapixel stacked sensor is a sports, wildlife and action shooters' dream. Everything from the speed of the sensor to the super-light magnesium body is set up for rapid use with the minimum of fuss.

With a newly-upgraded autofocus system delivering results like never before, expect 40fps shooting with full AF, and a significant upgrade in eye control AF too.

For video, Canon packs in the ability for 6K 60p RAW internal recording, as well as 4K 120p and 2k 240p. The EOS R1 also offers the neat trick of being about to capture stills and video at the same time, something the R5 II also inherits.

Needless to say if speed is your requirement, there's never been anything quite like the Canon EOS R1. Head over to the product page and sign up to the waiting list to make sure you're first in the queue when this astonishing new model arrives at Hireacamera!
